John Lewicki
(April 9, 1929 – August 22, 2011)
LEWICKI, John – We are deeply saddened by the passing of John on August 22, 2011. He was born on April 9, 1929 in Garland, Manitoba to Mike and Mary Lewicki along with his two brothers Emil and Peter. In September 1949 he married his first wife Joan and raised three children.
John had many skills which included being a Police Officer and Mechanical Engineer in a potash mine. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. After the passing of his daughter Elaine and then his wife, he married Betty (nee Bull) on October 7, 2005. He then moved to Melfort where he and Betty had five happy years together.
During his time in Melfort, he had made lots of friends through Betty. He enjoyed their friends stopping in for tea or coffee almost everyday. The door was always open to visitors with plenty of food, stories and laughs that never ended. He would help Betty with canning and enjoyed helping her in the garden which was her pride and joy. He took pleasure going on paper routes with Betty's brother Rudy and fishing with his friend Albert. Jokes were heard bellowed across the street between John and his neighbour Harvey (Urf Urf). He had nick-names for all their friends.
We would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Wingate and all the other doctors that attended John and the nurses in the hospitals in Melfort and Saskatoon.
Leaving to mourn are his wife Betty and her family, his sons John (Marielle), Bob (Mary), his son-in-law Steve (Mary), grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all his friends in Melfort and surrounding areas.
Funeral services were held August 26th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Saskatoon.
