John E. “Jack” Johnson of Big River, Sk. passed away peacefully at his home on December 20, 2016 at the age of 85 years. He was born in Big River, Sk. on April 8, 1931 the second of eleven children. Jack spent his working life fishing at Cree Lake, fishing with his father, then at the Big River Sawmill until he retired in 1986. Jack married the love of his life Ivy Hadley on October 26, 1954. They were blessed with three children Ronald, Jacqueline and John. Ivy passed away in 2002. Jack enjoyed gardening and driving around town and the surrounding area until he was unable to do so anymore. He played crib and could tell a mean story right up to his passing. Jack is lovingly remembered by his children and their families: Ronald (Lorraine) of Big River, SK and family: Raina (Michael) Laird and son, Everett, Kristen (Michael) Miller and children, Nixon and Charlotte, Jacqueline of Calgary, AB and family: Dennis (Dana) Johnson and daughter, Aralynn, Gregory (Candice) Krawetz and children, Hannah & Kevin, Clinton Krawetz and children, Alana & Eve, Kayln Potts and children, Fayth and Trystan, John (Shelley) of Big River, SK and family: Samantha (Serge) Beaulac and son, Colter, Amanda Johnson, His siblings: Joyce Clark of Vernon, BC, Ruth Buckingham of Big River, SK, Richard Johnson of Prince George, BC, Alice May (John) Bergquist of Meath Park, SK, George (Elizabeth) Johnson of Big River, SK, Doris (Orest) Kalawsky of Spruce Grove, AB, Randy Johnson of Salmon Arm, BC, Sister-in-law, Mary Hadley of Prince Albert, SK also numerous nieces and nephews. Jack is predeceased by: his wife, Ivy (2002), parents, John K. and Huldah Johnson, sisters, Shirley Laughy and Eileen Johnson, brother, Robert Johnson, sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson, brothers-in-law, Russ Clark, Jim Laughy and Art Buckingham, mother-in-law, Theresa Hadley, sister-in-law, Kaye Hadley, brothers-in-law, Ronald and Ken Hadley. A Celebration of Life will be held in Big River, on May 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Big River Community Hall, Big River, SK with Delores Beaulac officiating. Interment will follow at the Big River Cemetery, Big River, SK. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Lakewood Lodge Auxiliary in memory of John E. Johnson as tokens of remembrance.
