HUGHES – John
1945 – 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, John Hughes, late of Shellbrook, Saskatchewan. Dad passed away at home in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, on March 16th, 2022, at the age of 76 years.
John was born on October 2nd, 1945, in Coventry, England to Anne and Ted Hughes. He had three siblings, two brothers (David & Michael) and one sister (Mary). John grew up in England and gained a degree in dentistry from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He then had an opportunity to come to Canada to start his career as a dentist. Shortly after his arrival in Canada, John met the love of his life, Lois. John married Lois Marie Waterhouse on December 9th, 1972, in Parkside Saskatchewan. John & Lois had three children, Iain, Stephanie & Christopher. Dad had many friends and was a popular person with all who knew him. Dad had a strong faith in God and found comfort in attending church whenever he was able. His dedication to his family was incredible and he would do anything for them. Dad also loved his sports and some of his finest moments in life were spent on the ball diamonds coaching his kids. He also cherished all the times he was able to watch his grandchildren compete in their sports and extracurricular activities.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lois, his children Iain (Erin), Stephanie (Jeff), Christopher (Kathy); grandchildren Anna, Jack, Zara, Lilly, Sawyer, Madeline, Noah; sister Mary (John); as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents Anne and Ted; Brothers David and Michael; as well as other relatives and good friends.
