Joanne E. Bassingthwaite

Joanne was born in Rabbit Lake, SK to Edith and Raymond Page. She grew up in Mullingar, SK and later in Rabbit Lake, SK. Joanne worked many jobs as a young woman while attending high school. She received her teaching certificate and taught school in a one-room schoolhouse until she met and later married the love of her life Albert Bassingthwaite in 1957. Joanne and Albert lived in various communities across Saskatchewan as Albert worked for the Wheat Pool building elevators and Joanne stayed home to raise their 4 children. In 1969, Joanne, Albert and their children moved to Prince Albert, where she remained until her passing.
Joanne was very active in the community and was a member of various clubs. She loved to play cards, curl, garden, and dance. Joanne was a master story teller and the grandchildren especially loved to hear her stories of the ‘olden’ days.
Joanne is survived by her four children, Ray (Mary) Bassingthwaite, Laurie (Andy) Kehrig, Lyle (Claire) Bassingthwaite, Charlene Baran (Bob Stark); her grandchildren, Candace Fior, Kelsi Lukan, Amber Todd, Wade Kehrig, Devin Baran, Tiffiny Middelkoop, Jonas Bassingthwaite, Lee Kehrig, Jordin Bassingthwaite, Stefanie Bassingthwaite and Derek Baran and their spouses; her 18 great-grandchildren; her sisters in-law, Vivien Bassingthwaite, Margaret (Hal) Thiessen; her brothers in-law, Bill Wyant and Doug Haryung; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Albert Bassingthwaite; her sister, Arlene Wyant; her son-in-law, Duane Baran; her sister-in-law, Judy Haryung; and her brother-in-law, Neil Bassingthwaite.
