Joan Sajtos

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joan Sajtos announces her peaceful passing on October 27, 2015. Joan was born in Regina July 6, 1941 to Frank and Peg McMillan. As her father was transferred often with the Royal Bank, she grew up in various small towns throughout Saskatchewan. Joan moved to Saskatoon in 1959 to study nursing at the University Hospital. She met Bob at the U of S and they were married in 1962. They moved to Prince Albert creating a rich community of family, friends, volunteer groups and work. She influenced health care in Prince Albert through her work in Public Health, Pediatrics and as Director of Home Care. Bob retired in 1990 and built a retirement home at Candle Lake. They moved to Candle Lake in 1996 and Joan retired in 2001. In retirement she kept very active volunteering with the Medical Clinic, Parks and Recreation, Medical Board, and Search and Rescue to name a few. During their time in Candle Lake Joan forged many new and lasting friendships. Family was central to Joan and she will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband, Bob; son Rob (Gail); grandsons Jon and Jared; daughter Cathy (Kevin); grand dogs Cerchi and Rumble; and extended family and dear friends. Joan lived her life to the fullest, ready for any adventure and always making time for family and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at the Candle Lake Community Church in Candle Lake, SK. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow at Candle Lake Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
