Jessie Soloducha (nee Buchanan)
1938 – 2013
Jessie passed away at the Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. She grew up on the family farm on the West Hill of Prince Albert, now known as Buchanan Drive. Mom was involved in many activities growing up including the Buchanan father-daughter curling team and riding horses at the summer fair. She began her working career in 1956 with the City of Prince Albert, eventually working into the position of the Mayor’s secretary. She left this position soon after her marriage to Peter in 1963. They spent the next 30 years working together and raising their children on the family farm where they were all heavily involved in the local 4-H program. It was with this lifestyle that they were able to instill a strong work ethic and values to their daughters that would last a life time. After dad’s passing in 1994 Mom continued to work on and off the farm. She retired from Meyers Norris Penny in 2008 and moved into the city in December 2012. Mom loved to stay busy whether it was spending time with grandkids, knitting, crocheting, curling or volunteering with the PA Exhibition Association, in which she was honored with a lifetime membership in 2011. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Pamela Soloducha (Kirk Mitchell) of Prince Albert, SK, Carolyn Soloducha (Gerry Stevenson) of Edmonton, AB, Patricia Soloducha (Shaun Stewart) of Prince Albert, SK and Priscilla (Erwin ) Hanley of Regina, SK; her grandchildren Katelyn Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Tanner Englot, Ryland Hanley, Kaleigh Mitchell, Tyler Englot, Logan Englot, Tyson Englot and Raya Hanley; her two sisters Barbara (Bob) McLeod of Prince Albert, SK and Fern (Larry) Slater of Henribourg, SK; her brother Jim Buchanan of Prince Albert, SK; along with aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1994; her father Jimmy in 1991 and her mother Peg in 1978. The family would like to thank Dr. Hookenson and the staff at the Victoria Hospital for all the loving care Mom received during her illness. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery.
