With wonderful memories held close to their hearts, the family of Jerry Michael Linger, late of Paddockwood, sadly announce his unexpected passing on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the age of 85.
There will be a Celebration of Life held for Jerry on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Prince Albert (260 – 25th St East), with Pastor Shane Acorn officiating.
Jerry was born on June 26, 1931 at Northside, SK. Later their family moved to the Henribourg district and finally settled in Paddockwood. Jerry’s love of music and brutally strong work ethic came naturally to him at a very young age. His love of music is something he was well known for. He played for many weddings and dances, and there was a large assortment of instruments he could play. Jerry’s favorites by far were the saxophone and fiddle. He started playing for dances at the age of 12, and he played for nearly 50 years. He was an entertainer at heart and loved to tell stories, and dad had a lot of stories. It was while performing on stage where his future wife saw him, and they fell in love. Jerry married Susie Dryka of Henribourg in 1960. They farmed in Paddockwood where they raised three children, who will miss him dearly. His life on the farm was something he loved to do and his wife Susie was right there by his side working just as hard as he did. His love for his family was something he made well known to his children and grandchildren. These past months of summer Dad had a lot of doctor appointments, and when we would drive him in he would admire all the crops in the fields and say how he wished he could be out there. If he was feeling well enough he would drive out in the country to see what was going on, Jerry loved the land. After mom passed away in 1999, dad met Genevieve Scherle, and they became very good companions. Dad and Gen were able to do some traveling together and spoke on the phone almost every day if not twice a day. Dad, your family and friends are going to miss you terribly and we love you very much.
Jerry is lovingly survived by his children, Wendy Grubbe (Daryl) and their children, Chad Grubbe, Hally Muirhead (Casey) and great granddaughter Sawyer; Peggy Linger and her children, Jonathon Schapansky, Alissa Schapansky; Jerry Linger Jr. (Shelly) and their children, Wyatt, Suzanna, and Von Linger; his sister Ruby (Tony) Horachek. Jerry is predeceased by his wife Susanna (Susie) in 1999; his parents Joseph and Emily Linger; his brothers, Joe and Tony Linger; an infant sister; and an infant granddaughter Rayanne Grubbe.
