Jean Marc Plante, known to many as “John,” passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 23, 2025, at the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital. John was born on June 22, 1944, in St-Augustin, comté de Portneuf, à Québec.
He moved to Saskatchewan in 1967 and met a man by the name of Leonard. They not only became coworkers but also became friends and then family when Leonard introduced him to his baby sister, Louise. It was obviously love at first sight because he then chose to adopt her daughter, Monique, and then had two more children of their own, Lisa and Marc. They moved back and forth from St. Louis and Prince Albert, where he worked various jobs as a Cement Worker/Contractor. His biggest pride, besides his family, was the contracting business he started with his friend Sonny, “Sonny and John Contracting.” Another big accomplishment in his life was overcoming his addiction to alcohol. One of John’s favorite things to do was play cards! There were always friends and family around his kitchen table playing cards until the wee hours of the morning. Poker and casino became his favorite hobbies until his health started to fail, and he moved into the nursing home in St. Louis. There he was lovingly known as “Grandpa.” Although he sometimes made it difficult for them because of his stubbornness, he loved them all, and they loved him, especially Val! John truly believed in his faith and finally went home with his creator after struggling for so long. We will miss you!
John is lovingly remembered by, his daughter, Lisa (Leroy) Fiddler of Debden, SK; his son, Marc (Brenda) Plante of St. Louis, SK; his grandchildren, Kristen, Kimberly (Sean), Kelly, Jamie, Curtis and Kelsey; his great-grandchildren, Monica, Rocky Jr., Chase, Jayden, Macey, Liam, Kayda and Ashya; his brother, Lucien Plante; his sisters, Louisette, Pierrette and Claire; his special friend, Valerie Whitehawk, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
