Jean “Jane” Toporowski
1934 – 2024
The world lost a beautiful soul and Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
The family of Jean “Jane” Toporowski are saddened to announce her passing on September 20, 2024.
Jane is survived by her brothers, Alex (Marian) and Nick (Jenny); sisters, Helen Maruschak and Diane (Wayne) Sumners; sister-in-law, Del Toporowski; 19 nieces and nephews that were very dear to Jane; numerous great-nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
Jane was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn; father, Harry Toporowski; stepmother, Victoria Toporowski (nee Weleski); sisters, Pat and Christina; brother, Stan; brothers-in-law, Mike Maruschak and Bill Heleta; and nephew, Bobby Maruschak.
Jane was born in Foxford area on September 16, 1934 to Harry and Evelyn Toporowski. She was second born of 5 children. Jane later moved to the family farm in Paddockwood and enjoyed many happy years there. Jane shared fond memories of times spent visiting and playing with her siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. Those were fun times for Jane. Of course, living on the farm wasn’t all fun and games, everyone had jobs to help with.
Jane became a city girl in 1999 when she moved to Prince Albert. She stayed with brother Alex and sister-in-law Marian for 3 months and then moved to Andrea Skiftun’s care home, where she soon became a family member. We will forever be grateful to Andrea for the care and love Jane received there. Also, Jane started attending the Herb Bassett Day Centre, which she loved! After many years when Andrea retired, Jane moved to Lisa’s care home where once again she was treated like family.
After a few years, Jane’s health was failing and she became a resident at the Herb Bassett nursing home in September of 2017. She settled in very well and was loved and well treated there by the staff. We are so thankful for the care she received there.
Special thank you to Andrea Skiftun, Lisa’s Care Home, Herb Bassett Day Centre and Herb Bassett Nursing Home! Also, to all who knew and loved her! As well as Gray’s Funeral Chapel for their kind and professional service.
A private family funeral was held at Grays Funeral Chapel. Jane was interred with her mother, Evelyn, at the South Hill Cemetery in Prince Albert.
Rest in peace Jane. We love you more than words can say! You will always be in our hearts!
