Jason Andrew Herd
December 15, 1971 – May 18, 2026
Jason was born in Brampton, ON, where he resided until he and his Mom moved back to the Birch Hills area in September of 2024. While in high school he took on a part time job working at The Brick warehouse. Upon graduating, he became full time and worked there for 34 years.
Jason had a wicked sense of humor, tremendous memory and was a trivia nut for music, tv shows and movies. He loved country music and got a bonus when his pal, Johnny Reid got started, becoming his #1 fan, and also critic when Johnny would ask for his opinion on a new song. When Johnny received his first platinum album, he had a duplicate plaque made for Jason – one of his prized possessions!
Jason enjoyed sports, including lacrosse from a young age, and even coached and later on taught all his tricks and love of the game to his teams. He loved coaching the juvenile teams (age 16 – 21) where they won tournaments at a high level. He also played hockey, soccer, squash and golf before getting into slowpitch ball where he played on 3 different teams and went to all sorts of tournaments and having a good time.
Jason was such a kind person and had a heart as big as himself. He was his Mom’s protector and help – never had to ask him a second time on anything.
Jason is survived by his parents, John and Edna Herd; his older brother, John Jr., his aunt and uncles, Uncle Ray and Bernice Hanson and James, Uncles Allan and Terry Hanson, Uncle John and Paulette Hanson and Cory, Ryan and Lori and families, Aunt Eva and Jerome Austring and Brian, Curtis, and Jennifer and families, Uncle Robert and Helen Herd, Uncle Robert Charleston and family, Uncle Bill and Joyce Herd and family, Aunt Thea and Bernie Howe and family.
Jason was predeceased by his grandparents, Sam and Marie Hanson; and Robert and Dolly Herd; his Uncles Verner and Carl Hanson; his Aunt Pauline and Colby McClure, Aunt Kathleen Charleston, Uncle David and Anne Herd, Aunt Anna and Robert Malcolm.
Jason will be cremated, he wanted no service or fuss. He will be missed for a lifetime! After being through his medical issues, and finding a lack of equipment for large people, such as good sturdy wheelchairs and beds, we would request that any donations in Jason’s memory be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, 1702 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK, S7M 0Z9, https://sphfsk.ca/donate/ .
