Jane Darlene Kacher
October 26, 1946 – October 14, 2022
The family of Jane is heartbroken to announce the passing of our much loved mother, grandmother, and sister on Friday October 14, 2022.
Jane was born in Prince Albert and grew up on the family farm in the Cameo District near Shellbrook. During her school years Jane loved to play baseball and excelled playing 2nd base. In later years she enjoyed curling. She spent many hours at her auntie’s and uncle’s homes spending time with her cousins and remained close to them throughout the years. Jane always did well in school and her caring ways and yearning to learn took her to nursing school. She graduated from nursing school and had the opportunity to go abroad with the armed forces but chose to stay home and get married to the love of her life Bill. Jane worked in many different nursing areas during her career including clinics, a nursing home, and in both the Holy Family Hospital on Pediatrics and later at the Victoria Hospital on Obstetrics. She only took time off from nursing to stay home and raise her children when they were born. She always said she enjoyed her job.
Jane was a woman who could do many things. She knit and crocheted, canned and preserved the harvest from the garden, made many jams and jellies, and baked delicious goodies. She was a great drawer, she was crafty, and sewed many clothes for herself and her children. She was a great helping hand to the many construction and painting projects she did with her husband Bill.
Jane could often be found with a book in her hand as she loved reading, listening to country music, doing sudoku puzzles, and more often than not knew the answers on the gameshows! She also enjoyed watching many different sports on TV. One of Jane’s greatest passions was fishing. You better be quick with the net when she caught a big one up at The Narrows!
Jane adored her grandchildren and had a very close and special bond with them that always remained strong. They held a very special place in her heart.
Jane was a very loving, kind and giving mother and grandmother to us all.
We miss and love you very much and always will.
Jane is survived by: her daughter, Heather (Kirt) Specht and their children Logan and Morgan; her daughter, Shannon Kacher (Chris Balon) and their daughter Mikayla Balon; her sister Betty (Ken) Haugen; her sisters-in-law, Mary Havlicek, Helen Bedford, Olga (George) Allen, and Josie Kacher; her brothers-in-law, Ed (Irene) Kacher, and Jerry (Louise) Kacher; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Bill; her son, Jeffrey; her parents, Bennie and Clara Tunem; her brothers-in-law, Joe, Morris, Ross, Walter, Walter Havlicek, and Jim Bedford; her sister-in-law, Anne Borrowman; and her nephews, Zane Kacher and Bill Havlicek.
