It is with deep love and sadness that the family of James Theodore Wicks, late of Birch Hills, SK announce his passing on August 13th, 2026, at the age of 78 years.
Jim was born on October 9, 1947, in Prince Albert, SK. He was the second child of Sylvia and Elmer Wicks. Jim’s mother was a school teacher and his father was a Fuller Brush salesman and farmer. Jim, along with his parents and sisters, Gloria and Lori, moved to many places in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Home base was always the farm in the Winton district, north of Birch Hills. Jim took his high school education in Birch Hills, SK.
In October of 1969, Jim married the love of his life, Barbara Christianson. At this time Jim was a member of the Saskatoon Police Force. Their daughter Shauna was born in September 1970. Their son Craig was born in November 1971. In the spring of 1974, Jim moved his family to the farm in the Winton district. He built a new home and began a career in farming and construction. In April 1994, Jim and Barbara were blessed with their third child, Jared.
Family was always a very important part of Jim’s life. He was a quiet, gentle, honest, and loving man. When Jim spoke, his words were always wise and worth listening to. He was always a man of his word. Jim loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, golfing and wildlife photography. He planted and tended to thousands of trees on the farm.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his loving wife Barbara (Christianson); his children Shauna Wicks, Craig (Sheri) Wicks and Jared (Bailey) Wicks; his grandchildren Ashley (Joshua) Thiessen, Amanda (Malachi) Panske, Heidi (Lucas) Dunbar, Colby Dron, Dylan (Kaitlin) Wicks; his great-grandchildren Theodore Panske, Jovie Panske, Abigail Thiessen, Seth Thiessen, and soon to be born Baby Panske; his sisters Gloria (Gerry) Dupuis, Lori Rhoden and their families, as well as numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, his church family, his many good friends, and wonderful neighbors.
Jim is predeceased by his parents Elmer and Sylvia Wicks, and his parents-in-law Clarence and Esther Christianson.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held August 21st, 2026, at 2 PM at the Lake Park Baptist Church in Birch Hills, SK. The Interment will be at the Winton Cemetery.
