James “Jim” Rings
April 5th, 1951 – December 11th, 2020
James “Jim” Dale was born on April 5th, 1951 in Tisdale, Sk and grew up on the family farm in the Star City District. When he first went to school in the Oreal Country School and attended until the end of grade 3, from grades 4 to 12 he was in the Star City graduating in 1969. Sports and 4H were important to him; six-man football, softball, curling and then in later years; slow pitch, golfing, downhill and cross-country skiing, skidooing and ice-fishing. He managed Co-op grocery stores from his first job at Weldon in 1970, working in Melfort, La Ronge, Wollaston Lake, Cumberland House, and Mika Creek. During this time, he was married and had two sons, Justin and Kevin. Settling back in La Ronge to start a new job with SMDC which is now Cameco in 1978. His main title was in human resources for 27+ years at Star Lake, Jasper and Contact gold mines as well as Rabbit Lake and MacArthur. In November 1993 he married his second wife and in January 1994 started the process of purchasing the Chitek Lake Golf Course. Jim stayed on at the mines for the first 17 years before quitting Cameco and working HR for Fast Genetics part time for two years before joining his wife full-time. Jim belonged to the Witchekan Wildlife and Chitek Lake Seniors. Jim always tried to live with the motto that an old friend told him, once every day do some thing you have to do and every day something you want to do.
James is survived by: his wife Sandra, his children; Justin (Lynette Ewanus) and children, Mikayla and Jayden, Kevin (Shannon) Rings and children, Lala and Thomas, his sister, Linda Belak, his mother-in-law, Marilyn Morley, his siblings-in-law; Ken (Patty) Morley and family; Robin (Jared) Rau and children: Hennise, Remington and Adelaide, Dawn (Dan) Farrington and children: Tucker and Mason, Gina (Terry) Zaparaniuk and children: Cody and Lainee, Charles (Michelle) Morley and their daughter Anna. James is predeceased by his parents; Dale and Florence Rings and his brother-in-law Ronald Belak.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial Donations in Jim’s name may be directed to the RUH Foundation designated gift for 6200 floor, or Sask Wildlife Federation Habitat Trust.
