James “Jim” Penner

April 18, 1948 ~ April 13, 2020

Jim Penner, beloved husband of Vimy, passed away peacefully in his home the afternoon of April 13th, 2020.  Though his presence in our lives will be deeply missed, we rest in the blessed assurance that Jim was called “home” and is rejoicing in the presence of his loving Savior.

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vimy; his daughter Pam (Mike) Gerrand and grandsons Andrew and Reid; his son Scott (Karin Dodds) and granddaughters Galena and Solana;  his sisters Julia (Wally) Penner and Joyce (Emeric) Johnson; his brother Gerry (Heather) Penner; his brothers-in-law Ian Ferguson (Barb), Glenn Ferguson (Sue) and Lee Ferguson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews he loved so dearly and a dear sister-in-Christ, Diane McDuff.

Jim adored his grandchildren!  He so enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey during a recent trip to B.C., as well as the precious time he spent with his beautiful granddaughters.  He was an avid hockey player, golfer, and was on the rotary trail every morning for his 8 km walks!  Being such an active person, Jim was very bored with all this necessary isolation.  We smile as we ponder if perhaps, he and the Lord decided it would be a good time to go!

He was a man who loved well and will be so very missed by all who loved him and were blessed by knowing him.

Jim has been cremated, and in respecting his wishes, there will be no memorial service.  May you be able to find some time over the coming days to recall some fond memories of times spent with him!  Memorial tributes will lovingly be received by the Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 15th Avenue East Prince Albert, SK S6V 8A1.  On-line condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel of Prince Albert, SK- 575 28 Street West Prince Albert, SK 306-922-4729
