James (Jim) Leonard Punter

James (Jim) Leonard Punter, late of Prince Albert, SK passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK on January 11th, 2026, at the age of 86 years.
James Leonard Punter was born on February 2nd, 1939, in Paddockwood, SK to Leonard and Myrtle Punter and they moved to Prince Albert when James was 4 years old.
Jim married Helen Bennett on June 11, 1960, recently celebrating 65 years of marriage.
He worked at various jobs during his life including Marlboro Hotel, Norcanair but made his career with McGavin’s Bakery for 24 years.
Jim and his wife Helen travelled to many places across Western Canada, the United States and Mexico. He especially enjoyed the Alaskan Cruise and a bus trip to Nashville.
In his retirement he spent his time doing wood working and other crafts. He also volunteered for the Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Poppy Campaign. Jim enjoyed playing Yahtzee, Cribbage, cards and enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sun reading his books. Most of all Jim was always remembered for his great sense of humor and loved joking with his family and friends.
Jim will be forever loved and missed by his wife Helen, his four children Kevin (Pat) Punter of St. Albert, AB and his granddaughter Mikayla Punter (Rylin) of St. Albert, AB; Shelley (Jim) Jasnoch of Prince Albert, SK; Kim Punter of Sechelt, BC, and Lorrie Punter of Prince Albert, SK; his grandson Braeden (Shaye) Kugler, his great-grandson Kayson Kugler; his grandson Brody Kugler (Raeleen); his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Jean Smith of Edmonton, AB and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Myrtle Punter, his mother-in-law May Smith, his siblings Ken, Lyle, Ralph, & Ron, his granddaughter Chelsea Kugler, his son-in-law Jeff Cotter, and his niece Cyndy Punter.
Our family would personally wish to thank Dr. Parekh, his Nurse Cathy, Pharmacist Brandi and Victoria Hospital Nurse Wowie for their excellent care.
