We, the family of James Struthers Hill, invite to you a memorial service to celebrate over 100 years of Dad’s full life. It will be held 1:00 Feb 16th at the Prince Albert Alliance Church.
He will forever be remembered by his only daughter Beatrice Bradford, his son in law Glen Bradford who became the son he never had, his grandchildren Kris and Lindy Bradford, great grandchildren Hannah and Nathan, his grandchildren Dennis and Kandis Wiebe, great granddaughters Jennah, Jessica Jaelynne all from Sexsmith Alberta. Hi is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and his many friends who have called him Dad, Uncle and Grandpa over the years.
He was predeceased by his wife Laura (Thompson) Hill and his little great grandson Tiegen who were waiting for him to join them!
Dad moved to Canada at age 14 and his remaining parent passed away shortly after.
Alone is this country he made friends and eventually worked in Alberta where he attended Three Hills Bible School. He joined the army, met mom in Vancouver where they were married and moved back to Saskatchewan where he graduated from the Christian and Missionary Alliance Canadian Bible School in Regina before moving to Prince Albert area.
Many will remember Dad as the friendly caretaker at Prince Charles School. Others will remember him as the itinerant pastor who spoke at many churches in the surrounding communities. His work with Full Gospel Businessmen’s and It’s A New Day brought him many new friends over the years. Friends remember the time he spent just talking to people and sharing Christ’s love with all he met, whether having a Bible study or on the street, in the mall or visiting and praying for people in their homes.
In 1989 Dad and Mom moved to Saskatoon to live at Circle Drive Place till 2002 when mom passed away. He moved to Abbotsford BC and lived with us till his move to Menno Place where he passed gloriously into the arms of his Saviour who he
Loved passionately with his whole heart. With every visit we were told of his joyful
Spirit, his thankfulness and his positive attitude he displayed his entire life. What an amazing legacy he has left for us. As we think of Dad, Grandpa and Big Papa , as the great grandchildren called him, we remember him singing with his strong Scottish
Brogue “This worrrrld is not my home, I ‘m Just a passing thrrrrrough. My trrrreasures are laid up somewherrrre beyond the blue. The angels beckon me from heaven’s open doorrrrr and I canna feel at home in this worlrrrrd anymore”
