James Grenville Town

Town- James Grenville Town passed away April 30/13 at Pine View Terrance Lodge, Prince Albert. Jim was born December 8, 1915 to Edwin and Elizabeth Ann (Littlewood) Town of Dauphin, Manitoba. Jim spent his early years on the family farm at Dauphin, then timber cruising in the Duck Mountains. He was a member of the R.C.M.P. from 1939-1945. Following that he became manager of Canadian Co-operative Implements at both Saskatoon and Regina (ten years), and then moved to Prince Albert as manager of Co-operative Fisheries (ten years) until Co-operative Fisheries became part of the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation of Ottawa. Jim then sold real estate until his retirement. He met Doris Bryant in Dauphin and they were married October 1, 1949. They spent their married lives in Saskatoon and Regina, and moved to Prince Albert from Regina in 1960. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Doris, of Prince Albert, four sons, their spouses, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Bryant (Judith), son James (Kristen Stoyko) and their daughter Cadence, and son Daniel. Jamie (Michelle), daughter Jennifer (Dave Schmid) and daughter Stephanie (Jeremie Roussel, fiancé). Warren, daughter Krista (Ben Pullen), son Jayman (Leigha) and their children Owen, Dayson, Liam, and son Brennan (Meghan Goertzen, fiancé). David (Arlene), son Nigel and daughter Lauren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Gwen (Baldur) Oliver of Winnipeg, and brother-in-law Arthur (Bev) Bryant of Winnipeg, along with many nephews and nieces. Jim was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Town of Dauphin, Edna Town of Montreal, Hazel Town, Murial Town and Emma Littlewood; his brother William Edwin Town Jr; as well as his sister-in-law Margaret Lyon of Sherwood Park. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 26331 STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 4R1 or to Pineview Terrace Lodge, 701 – 13th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 3H2.
