James Cochrane

James Clarence Cochrane went home to his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ surrounded by his family on December 30, 2022. James was born April 23, 1929, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and grew up north of Hagen. He married Jewel Ganes on July 1, 1951, and they raised their family on the farm just south of Birch Hills. James loved his family, friends, and community deeply and spent many hours visiting, telling stories, joking around, and enjoying the time he spent with them. James started farming at a very young age and was a true farmer at heart. He had faith to take him through the good times and the hard. His Church and Christian family were a mainstay in his life, and he loved serving the Lord through his church and The Gideons. James is survived by his wife of 71 years Jewel and his children; Don Cochrane (Marie), Chris Cochrane (Shirley), Gordon Cochrane (Holly), Betty Fairs (Bill), Barb Hunter (Gerald); his grandchildren Donovan (Sheila) Cochrane, Denorie Cochrane, Chantelle (Quinton) Taszlikowicz, Landon Cochrane, Rachel Cochrane (Lee), Wade Cochrane, Kristy Fairs (Tyler), Drew Fairs (Caroline), Brett Fairs, Brennan Hunter (Kelly), Brad Hunter (Destinee), Nicole Hunter and his bonus grandchildren; Jennifer Longpre, Erin Hurd, Delaney Banks; his great-grandchildren, Dawson Cochrane, Noah Cochrane, Cameron Cochrane, Alarik Koistinen, Lexus Taszlikowicz, Dillon Taszlikowicz, Blake Taszlikowicz, Coralie Fairs, Charlie Fairs, Dane Fairs, Daphnee Fairs; his sister Mary (Bill) Norman, his brother Dale (Darlene) Cochrane; his sister-in-law Hazel Cochrane; & his brother-in-law Arnold Ganes as well as many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his parents James & Beatrice Cochrane; his brother Lorne Cochrane; his sister-in-law Sterling Cochrane; his brother Ernie Cochrane; & his sister Pearl Kvalnes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to Christ Alone Lutheran Church in Birch Hills, SK, or The Gideons. A funeral service will be held for James on Thursday, January 5th, 2023 at 2 pm at the Christ Alone Lutheran Church in Birch Hills, SK, for those unable to attend the Funeral Service, it can be viewed at https://youtu.be/uu-v8rwvq18.
