James Lazarus Ballantyne, age 49, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2017 in Stanley Mission, SK. He was born Wednesday, August 16, 1967 in La Ronge. A Wake Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Stanley Mission, SK. His Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 17 from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Stanley Mission. Officiants will be Bishop Adam Halkett, Reverend Richard Custer, Reverend Elias Ballantyne, and Reverend Angus Sewap. James is survived by his loving family: his companion Theresa L. McKenzie; his daughter Dianne R.L. Hardlotte (Malachi Fred McKenzie); his son Darnell D. Ballantyne; the mother of his children Judy Hardlotte-Custer; his granddaughter Braylee McKenzie; his father Solomon C. Ballantyne; his brothers Ben G. Ballantyne, Jonas L. Ballantyne (Harriet), Moses R. Ballantyne (Margaret), Marvin R. Ballantyne, and Lester R. Ballantyne; his special adopted brother Wilson I. McKenzie (Kathy); his sisters Elizabeth R. Sewap (Martin), Caroline L. Ballantyne-Merasty (Felix), Jemima F. Charles (Jimmy), and Cora R. Ballantyne-Roberts (Jason); his father-in-law & mother-in-law John & Maggie McKenzie; his uncle Ray R. McKenzie; his aunts Maggie Neufeld (Mel), Florence Bonaise, Bella Hardlotte (Myles), Eva McKenzie (Charlie); his brother-in-law Jimmy P. McKenzie (Karen); his sister-in-law April McLeod (Philip); his special nephews Darcy Ballantyne, Andy Ballantyne, Jayce Roberts, and Hunter Charles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. He was predeceased by: his mother Helen S. (nee McKenzie) Ballantyne; his brother in infancy; his grandparents George D. & Betsy A (nee Bear) McKenzie, Benjamin & Amelia (nee Bear) Ballantyne; his aunts Frances “Beebee” Ballantyne, Nancy (nee Ballantyne) Charles, Mary (nee Ballantyne) Roberts, Elizabeth (nee Ballantyne) Cook, Maggie Demar (nee Ballantyne) Charles, Cora) nee Ballantyne) McKenzie; his special nephew Martin Jr. Sewap; his special cousin and friend Moses “defenceman Moe” Charles. Interment to follow at Stanley Mission Cemetery.
