Bailey, Isabelle – passed away peacefully on December 3, 2012 at the Herb Bassett Home. Isabelle was born July 13, 1920, lived her entire life at the family farm at Clouston. Isabelle’s early life was very tragic, losing her grandmother who lived with them, then losing her father when she was only 8 years old. Her mother remarried to Arthur Johnson and together with her brother Harold they continued living at the farm. Isabelle then lost her mother to cancer when she was 24, so only having a step-father and Harold, life continued on for them. After their step-father passed away in 1971, Harold and Isabelle still maintained the farm. Besides the farm, Isabelle had other interests, her love was her Church. She served it in various capacities all her life. This was not easy, as to the fact she lived 10 miles from the city, meaning she was travelling back and forth in every kind of weather to help whenever possible. She was also very active in the women’s Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church, a position she loved dearly. She held the position as President and various other offices. Isabelle’s love of music was very clear, a true singing voice, she was a member of St. Paul’s choir and the Watsonairs singing group for many years. Isabelle was also a Historian, she kept records, reports, scrap books, etc. on anything related to history, be it her church, the W.M.S and her community. She gave countless hours of her time working with others to do the local Clouston history book. Isabelle was predeceased by her grandmother Naomi Bailey, her father Walter Bailey in 1928, her mother Margaret in 1944, her step-father Arthur Johnson in 1971, and her beloved brother Harold in 2004. Even though Isabelle had no more family, the community around was her remaining family. She will be dearly missed by those left to remember her. We would also like to thank the staff at the Paradise Wing at the Herb Bassett home for their care and compassion for the last 12 years of Isabelle’s life, as well as Dr. Surkan. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 – 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Sandy Scott officiating. Interment to follow at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Herb Bassett Home, 1220 – 25th St. W, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4 or the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550 – 12th Ave, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
