Irene Truba of Surrey, BC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the age of 84.
Irene, the only daughter of Sally and John Truba Sr. was born May 21, 1941, in Prince Albert, SK. She grew up on the family farm south of Weirdale, SK, attending Elk Grove School before residing in Prince Albert and attending school at PACI. After completing school, she worked for a time in Prince Albert, but in the early 1960’s she took a leap and moved to Fort Smith, NWT, for work. Here she met her best friend of 65 years, Sheila Wilson. From there, the ladies moved on to their next chapter in Vancouver, BC, and started working as dispatchers for the RCMP at the Richmond Detachment. They loved to travel and visited numerous places after moving to BC. Cooking, baking, and caring for their beautiful indoor plants, the outdoor flower beds, and yard was a favorite pastime of the dear friends. Irene was an amazing and talented artist and a wonderful seamstress! Her art was breathtaking and so lifelike!
Irene is survived by her best friend of 65 years, Sheila Wilson; her brother, John (Joan) Truba; her 5 nieces and their families: Donna Truba and children, Devon Hamilton and his son, Jade (Joey) Nagy and their children; Kim Truba; Jodi Truba (fiancé Lyndon Andres) and son, Kieran Truba; Laura (Scott) Reilkoff and children, Carter, Tanner and Anna; Cheryl (Matt) Kristiansen and children, Elle and Jack; and her uncle, Fred Bremner of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous cousins and their families.
Irene was predeceased by her parents, John Sr and Sally Truba; her brother, James (Audrey) Truba; her grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens, Garden of Sermon on the Mount, Prince Albert, SK.
