April 27, 1928 – October 21, 2012
Irene Evelyn Vermette was born on April 27, 1928 on a farm near Leask, SK. She moved with her family to Ontario in the 1930’s and a few years later, she returned to SK. At age sixteen, she moved to Nordale where she remained until her passing on October 21, 2012. Irene was married on October 11, 1953 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert, SK. She was an avid sports fan, attending the hockey and fastball games of her sons and nephews. Being a champion of her favourite teams, she challenged referees and opposing team fans with quick words and ready fists. Irene is remembered by those who loved her as a feisty, action-oriented woman who lived life to the fullest. She was predeceased by her husband Walter; her son Urban (Binsco); five sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her son Albert; her special friend Morris Sarchuk; her brothers Ali and Alphonse Gagnon; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Travis Myrheim officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
