Irene Margaret Caraline Bujaczek (nee Erdmann)
(January 15, 1922 – December 20, 2011)
After an abundant life filled with love and family, we sadly announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother. Mom was the fifth of ten children born to Richard and Greta (Peplow) Erdmann of the Chellwood postal district East of Marcelin, SK. She attended the Ottawa School. Although she loved learning and desperately wanted to complete her education, her help was needed at home caring for her younger siblings and eventually on the family farm when her older brothers left for war.
She married her beloved soul mate John Bujaczek on December 18, 1945 in Leask, SK. Their life together began on dad's family farm near Kipling, SK. Dad later took employment as a grain buyer with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool which took them to many communities; including Bender, Inckeith, Tadmore and Weirdale.
In 1972, dad's failing health brought them to Prince Albert where for the next 18 years they were foster parents. They cared for many children including some with very special needs. She enjoyed this time in her life and fondly remised of those children in her later years. The passing of dad in 1991, but most of all the loss of their eldest daughter, Bayna Lynn Hulowski in 1999 was a very sad time for mom. Despite life's challenges she found happiness again in her children and grandchildren, whom she was so very proud of.
In the summer of 2000, she accepted an invitation to reside with her youngest daughter and family, Paula and Craig Eldstrom in Saskatoon and later in Candle Lake, where she remained until recently when her health began to fail. She enjoyed these years, watching her grandchildren grow into young adults and especially caring for the family dog, Curly.
Mom was always a hard worker, had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed life! In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing, playing ball, ice skating, family trips to the West Coast, canning and gardening. In her retirement, she wrote a cherished family history book. She loved to read and learn about life, she enjoyed the taste of fresh vegetables which were the fruits of our labour and mostly the company of family and friends. We will all miss her dearly, along with the many entertaining stories about her life and times!
Irene is survived by her three sons Kenneth (Elaine Burkhart); Allen; D'Arcy (Gail Solonynko); her daughter Paula (Craig) Eldstrom; son-in-law Ronald Hulowski; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and another great-grandchild to arrive in March; two sisters, one brother and six sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her daughter Bayna Lynn Hulowski, her husband John of 44 years, her parents, five brothers, one sister, six brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for those individuals who provided mom with loving care in the last weeks of her life. A burial and celebration of Mom's life will follow in spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Children's Haven or Mont St Joseph's Care Home “Country Garden's Neighborhood” both in Prince Albert.
Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Don Moriarty, Funeral Director
Mom, we'll keep in our heart the love of the past, For there it was planted forever to last.
