BISCHLER – Mrs. Irene
Irene passed away peacefully at Whispering Pine Place in Canwood, SK, on May 21, 2019. She was born on the family farm at Boro Green, SK, February 20, 1923. When Irene was a young girl, her mother passed away suddenly. Irene took over the care of the family… Dad, two brothers and a younger sister. She still managed to attend Boro Green School, which she loved.
In 1942, Irene married Jack Bischler and together they purchased a homestead north-west of Canwood. Work was hard and the hours long, but Irene and Jack were up to the task. They raised two sons, Murray and Brian and a daughter, Lori. Irene could always put a good meal on the table when visitors stopped in unexpectedly. She was known for her great meals, her baking, and especially her bread and buns. Her family fondly remembers her homemade sauerkraut, sausage, “special” chicken soup and ham hocks.
Both Irene and Jack were members of the Zion Lutheran Church which they also helped to build. Irene loved gardening, growing flowers, cooking, baking as well as visiting with her friends. Her greatest love was her family – Jack, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild. In May 1981, Irene and Jack retired to Holbein and during that time spent some winters in Arizona. In 1995, they moved back to Canwood to be closer to family and friends. Jack passed away in 2002 and Irene continued to live in their home until January 5, 2004, when she moved to “Golden Acres”. Irene became a resident of WPP in April 2011.
Irene will be dearly missed and remembered by, her son, Murray (Judy) Bischler: Heidi (Geoff) Weslowski, Emma, Sarah, Taya, Cade; Jeff (Jenna) Emma Bischler: Mike (Heidi) Jack Bischler; her son, Brian (Noreen) Bischler; Kevin (Amanda) Ian, Mackenzie Bischler; Jason (Brenda Fuller), Cody, Brett, Demery, Jenaya Bischler; Randy (Amanda) Bischler; her daughter, Lori Bischler; Corey (Nastashia) Sheehan, Aria, Emmet Sheehan; Jamie (Brett) Ella Skarpinsky; Cody (Melissa) Chretein; her great-great grandchild, Desmond; a sister Doris Meier; a sister-in-law Janey Reigert; several nieces, nephews; and a very good family friend René Chretein.
