Iona Locke

Mrs. Iona Locke (née Craig), of Paddockwood, SK passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 90 years. She was born near Ernfold on July 6, 1925. The Craig family moved to the Paddockwood area in 1930 and she attended the Elkhome School. Iona joined the W.A.C.’s on her 18th birthday. She married Archie on June 6, 1944 and they homesteaded on the Charlie Peterson quarter. Together they raised nine children in the Moose Lake District and moved into the town of Paddockwood in 1980. Iona was very involved with all community groups wherever she lived. In 2013 she became a resident of Northcote Manor. Iona is survived by her loving family: her sister Arlene Neurauter; her children Margaret (Harvey) Boettcher, Lyle (Nadine) Locke, Bob (Lynn) Locke, Janet Schindel, Walter (Margaret) Locke, Ernest (Diane) Locke, Gordon (Tracy) Locke, Arliss (Emile Gareau) Plummer and Janis (William) Johnson; thirty plus grandchildren; 30 plus great-grandchildren and one-great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Archie Locke; her brothers Lyle Craig, Jim Craig, Russell Craig, Chuck Craig and Thomas Craig; her granddaughter Theresa Locke and her grandson Gaelen Locke. A Celebration of Life and interment will take place at a later date. It is the family’s request that in lieu of floral tributes, donations in Iona’s memory may be made to the Victoria Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
