Illeen was born September 23, 1925 in Keewatin, Minnesota to Frank and Cecilia Harmon. The Harmon family later moved to a farm near St. Brieux. On October 15, 1946 Illeen married Maurice Boulanger. Illeen and Maurice lived in various small towns throughout Saskatchewan and eventually settled back in St. Brieux where their four children were born and raised. Illeen worked in the store and Maurice owned the John Deere dealership in town. During their years in St. Brieux many friends and relatives from the States and all over Canada came and stayed at the Boulanger household where they enjoyed Illeen’s huge noon-time meals. Illeen grew and canned her own garden vegetables and everything from bread to catsup was homemade. All the kids remember many hours helping in the garden and in the kitchen. There was never an idle hand when you came to stay. The family enjoyed many outings at Lake Lenore where hundreds of perch were caught by the men and cleaned, filleted and fried up by the women.
Illeen and Maurice moved to Ontario in 1971. They moved back to Saskatchewan in 1976 and settled in Melfort where Illeen worked for the Deloitte accounting firm until she retired in her early sixties. Her accounting skills came in handy as she helped her kids set up their books for the various businesses they owned at one time or another.
Many happy memories were enjoyed by all of Illeen’s kids and grandkids, friends and family at their house on Stovel. When Illeen lost her husband she sold the house and moved into a few smaller apartments until she settled into Legion Place where she lived until her recent illness and had to move into Parkland Place where she passed peacefully with her family around her.
Illeen was predeceased by her husband Maurice, her parents Cecilia and Frank Harmon, her brother Charles Harmon and his wife Betty, and her brother-in-law George Porter. Left to cherish her memory are her four children Charles (Elva), Leland (Debbie), Marlyane (Bert) Rohel, and Larry (Paulette); her grandchildren, Deon (Angie), Shayne, and Mindy Boulanger, Jason (Gina) and Chad (Pam) Rohel, Shane and Cole Boulanger, and great-grandchildren Kyle, Jordan and Emily Rohel (Jason’s), Morgan and Reagan Rohel (Chad & Pam’s), Caleb and Khloe Boulanger (Shayne’s); her sisters Illamae (John) Daradics and Edith Porter as well as their many kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
