August 14, 1931 – January 1, 2015
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Ida Marie Hagen (nee Hemstad), late of Hagen, SK on January 1, 2015 at the age of 83 years. Ida was born on August 14, 1931, the eldest daughter to Einar and Clara Hemstad. She was raised in the Northern Light district with ten siblings that she helped care for. After graduation she attended Normal School to become a teacher. Ida spent the next four years teaching at country schools around Birch Hills and Loreburn. During this time she met the love of her life, a handsome ball player from Hagen, Lloyd Howard Hagen, thus becoming a Hagen from Hagen. They went on to have three children: Marlin (Twila), Cameron (Nancy), and Marilee (Ron) Farrow; and five grandchildren: Michael and Robyn Hagen, and Kody, Jaret and Taylor Farrow; she is also survived by her siblings: Einar, Harold, John, Norman, Linda and Darlene. She was predeceased by her parents Einar and Clara Hemstad and siblings: Helen, Margaret, George and Knute. Ida led a long and happy life alongside Lloyd farming in the Hagen district for 57 years. A Funeral Service for Ida will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2014 – 2:00 pm, Saron Lutheran Church, Hagen, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas officiating. Interment to follow at the Saron Lutheran Cemetery.
