It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Victoria Hospital. Howard is survived by his loving family: his wife of 58 years Janice; his four children Karen (Kelly) Boisson, Dale (Shelley), Larry (Corine) and Bradley (Janice); his 8 grandchildren Darcy (Sherri), Brittany (Keith), Michelle (Devin), Kristen, Natasha, Melanie, Chantal and Connie (Lindsay); his 4 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law Ruth Dubray, Norma Dubray, Ione Martodam and Delores (Mel) Lent; his brother-in-law Delbert Dahl (Jane); his aunts Nellie Baun and Marjorie Bird as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Emma (nee Cromartie); his parents-in-law Matthew and Ruth Dahl; his sisters Pearl Amonson and Ruby; his brothers Arnold, Bill, Lester and 2 brothers in infancy; his brothers-in-law Orville Amonson, Clarence Martodam, Eldon Dahl, Manville Dahl, Eugene Dahl and Don Earl; his sisters-in-law Genevra Dubray, Edna Dubray, Marilyn Earl and Carole Dahl and his special canine friend Tony. Howard met the love of his life Janice Dahl and they were married on January 10, 1957 in Star City, SK and blessed with four children. Howard “Dad” was born on the family farm near Hagen, SK on June 27, 1930. During his teenage years the family temporarily moved to the West Coast. While there Dad started working at the age of 15 at a box factory and later, on a salvage boat from Vancouver to the Queen Charlotte Islands. He moved back to the family farm and started driving a semi for North Star Oil. In 1968 he started working for Canadian Propane (ICG) and retired from there in 1990. Dad enjoyed camping and fishing, playing guitar and organ, curling with the Senior Men’s and attending Raider games. He took pride in working with his hands – doing woodworking, carpentry and welding. He loved visits from his family and friends. Mom and Dad both volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 15 years. A special thank you goes to the Victoria Hospital 6th floor Staff and the Saskatoon RUH Neurology Care Staff. Family and friends wishing to pay their last respects may do so from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 9 at River Park Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9 from Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 – 15 Avenue East. Pastor Íris Kristjánsdóttir will officiate. It is the family’s request that in lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be directed to the Victoria Hospital Foundation or the Messiah Lutheran Church.
