It is with heavy hearts we announce that our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Tia and friend Hilda Zobeida Gallegos passed away peacefully in her sleep and was reunited with her soulmate, Sergio Gallegos, on Thursday, April 30, 2020, Prince Albert, SK. Mami Hilda was born on Wednesday, January 10, 1934, San Bernado, Chile, to Hernan and Paulina Bravo.
On September 11, 1973, the Chilean government was overthrown by the army and the national police. During this time Mami Hilda was a delivery truck driver delivering food to the less fortunate. She was apprehended numerous times by the military and placed within a stadium – a makeshift concentration camp. During her many imprisonments she was not able to see any family. So, she would go to the top of the stadium to catch a glimpse of her beloved husband.
In 1974, she was able to escape, on a train, in the middle of the night reluctantly leaving her family behind. She was reunited with her family in Argentina in 1976. It was not until May 15th, 1977 that she was able to move to Canada as a political refugee with her husband, 4 children and one granddaughter to start their new lives in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Mami Hilda was predeceased by her soulmate Sergio Gallegos, her parents Paulina and Hernan Bravo, her sister-in-law Julia Eliana Gallegos, and granddaughter Melissa. Her memory will be forever remembered by her children Gloria Cardenas (Guy), Mirza Gallegos, Dante (Silvia), Myriam Uribe (Javier), Rosa Matice (Stuart), and Rodrigo Gallegos; Her grandchildren Tania, Ricardo, Paola, Pablo, Marcos, Allen, Daniel, Eduardo (Michelle), Cintia (Mark), Jessica, Christina (David), Rosita (Jordan), Danielle (Ryan), Shana, and Ivan. And her great grandchildren Teagan, Chloe, Robyn, Cylas, Quinn, Ranyelle, Mateo, Carlos, Azayla, Santiana, Julian, and Adryan. As well as numerous other relatives, friends, and her beloved dog, Santi.
The funeral service will be held at River Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020. A private service will be held at 11:00 AM for close family and a live video feed will be available at distantlink.com/dlm56.html with the password Arbor2020.
