Helen Jewel Hillier was born on July 22, 1921 to John and Mary Cook in Lloydminster, SK. She was one of three daughters. She passed away peacefully on January 13, 2015 at Parkland Place, Melfort, SK.
Helen married Ken Hillier in 1962 in Lloydminster and they moved to Melfort in 1966. Helen worked alongside Ken at Texaco Bulk Fuel Sales, doing books until their retirement in 1985.
Helen had many hobbies such as quilting, cross stitching, sketching, and pottery; and she was meticulous about her work. Travelling was an all-time favorite of Helen’s. She loved flying with Ken in his private plane, or going to their cabin at Candle Lake for fishing or relaxation with their close friends in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. After Ken passed away, she continued to travel and went on many chartered bus excursions and mentioned Alaska was her most favorite.
Helen was always full of life, loved people and enjoyed good humour. Even with her failing health she remained witty. Helen was a very kind and caring person.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Ken in 1995, parents, and her sisters. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
