With sadness and treasured memories the family announce the passing of Hector Joseph King on June 27th, 2013 at the age of 83. Hector started driving truck at an early age, working for Jaeger Transport as well as Trimac. He switched careers to be closer to home and his family and got his millwright ticket. He worked at Allan Potash, Cominco (Agrium) Potash, Carling O'Keefe/Molson brewery and at many other sites through the millwright local 1021. He always enjoyed the camaraderie of his co-workers and loved his trade.
He treasured the many family outings to Alberta and B.C. to visit relatives or just taking everyone camping. He coached both Hockey and Lacrosse and enjoyed the friendships formed from these events. Dad enjoyed retired life at Turtle Lake, enjoying the serenity and many friends to share coffee and tall tales with. He never missed a Rider game unless someone required his handyman skills. He was a big junior hockey supporter, and was a Blades seasons ticket holder for many years. A highlight was attending the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa and meeting some of the players.
Hector leaves to treasure his memories; his children; Susan (Dean) Hazelwanter, Mike (Kate) King, Dave (Carrol) King, Barb King, his step-children; Jim (Linda) Bingley, Ed (Shelley) Bingley, six grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, his brother; Rick (Bonnie) King, his sister; Vivian (Karl) Stadnyk, numerous nieces, nephews, family and many friends.
Hector was pre-deceased by his wife; Vivian, his sister; Valerie Johnson, and his parents; Frank and Elizabeth.
As Hector wished there will be a private family service at a later date.
Email condolences to www.beaulacfuneralhome.com will be forwarded to the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Saskatoon SPCA, in honor of Hector and his love of animals.
