The family of Hazel May Sutton, sadly announce her passing on May 25, 2022, in Prince Albert, SK. Left behind to mourn and remember her legacy of love are her son, Mervyn (Marjorie) Sutton of Prince Albert and grandchildren, Rob (Leanne) Sutton of Williams Lake and Rachel (Lonny) Akers of Prince Albert; her daughter, Lynda Coppens of Prince Albert and grandchildren, Kim Powers of Ponoka, Kirtis (Gigi) Powers of Edmonton and Kris Powers of Lanigan; her son, Bob (Twylla) Sutton of Shell Lake and grandchildren, Stuart (Keri) Sutton of Saskatoon, Kara (Ruska) Patton of Calgary and Lana (Joel) Hettinga of Canmore; her daughter, June (Jim) Chisholm of Saskatoon and grandson, Mike Sutton (Nicolle Constant) of Prince Albert; her daughter, Maureen Blake (Patrick Longworth) of Saskatoon and granddaughters, Becky (Jason) Benoit of Port Wade, NS and Erin (Evan) Burr of Saskatoon. Nanny also left behind many beloved step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a network of extended family and friends that stretched across continents.
Hazel was predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” Sutton; her father, George Cooper; her mother, Violet Georgina Cooper (nee Stephens) from Cheltenham, Glos., UK; her sons-in-law, Richard Coppens and Bill Blake; her siblings, Doris Rolf, Withington, Glos., UK, Joan Kesterton, Cheltenham, Glos., UK, Joyce Mills, Minchin Hampton, Glos., UK, John Cooper, Cheltenham, Glos., UK, and the sister so close to her heart, Jean Harris, Dursley, Glos., UK. Also passing before her were her step-uncle, William Stephens and her step-aunts, Flossie, Jane and Gladys, all also from England.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Good Shepherd Villas for the compassionate care shown to their Mom over the past eight years.
A Celebration of Hazel’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Prince Albert Alliance Church, 2777 6th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK. For those unable to attend the service, the service will be livestreamed and a recording will remain available after the service at https://youtu.be/hci1bF7F-l0. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Hazel may be made to World Vision Canada – 1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ontario, L5T 2Y4 – or a charity of the donor’s choice.
