It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gwyn David Morgan, late of Buckland, SK on April 15th, 2021 at the age of 86 years. In 1965, Gwyn married the love of his life June Smith of Prince Albert, SK and together they farmed near the airport then moved to Buckland in 1970 to farm and establish Morgans Hog Haven and raise their four children.
Gwyn was born in Prince Albert, SK and raised by the family farm near the airport with his two brothers, Bryn and Owen. He went to school at Central School in the city in his younger years by horse and sleigh. In the 1950’s, Gwyn was intrigued with the building of the new airport across the field from his house. He trained and received his pilot license. He then joined the P.A. Flying Club and began instructing pilots from Prince Albert to Uranium City. At the same time Gwyn was boxing with the Prince Albert Avavet Boxing Club winning many titles in his middleweight class. After the passing of his Father in 1963, Gwyn with his brother, Bryn took over the family farm.
Gwyn was a kind, soft spoken man that worked very hard every day of his life. He would help anyone and everyone. Gwyn was affectionally known to all of the neighbourhood children and the friends of his children as Boss. His children were his pride and joy. Gwyn’s favourite time was when the entire family including all the grand children would gather every Sunday for dinner. There was always one child sitting on his lap at meal time.
Left to mourn his passing is his beloved wife of 55 years, June (nee Smith), his son Grant (Sandra Hainstock), his daughter Sharon Morgan (Kent Tomlinson), his daughter Rachel Morgan (Gregg Huber), and his son Blair Morgan; his grandchildren, Eryn Tomlinson (Jarrett Anderson), Cole Tomlinson (Sarah Mitchell), Corbyn Morgan, Breck Morgan, and Vaughn DuGray; his sister-in-law, Margaret Morgan and family; his brother-in-law, John Smith and sister-in-law, Patt Smith and extended family; special family friend, Robert McKenzie.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lakeland Trail at Herb Bassett Home for looking after Gwyn for the past 10 years.
At Gwyn’s wishes no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Society – 301-2550-12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
