Greg Dean Disiewich
1968- 2018
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our son, brother, uncle, dad, nephew and friend, Gregory Dean Disiewich.
Greg was born May 5, 1968 in Prince Albert, SK. He attended Princess Margaret Elementary School, Holy Cross and St. Mary’s, graduating in 1986. Greg started his career with the Department of Highways in 1987 as a Ferry Operator in various locations, Cecil, Leader and Peyton in 1996, becoming a Supervisor in 2012.
Greg was a jokester with a big heart who loved to be with his family and friends. He had a love of travelling to warm destinations in the Caribbean as well as Mexico. One of his favourite things to do was spending time with his grandchildren, Blake and Laila. His time spent having coffee visiting with friends was a big part of who he was. Enjoying the company of friends and family at Christopher Lake made the summer a great time for everyone. Greg was an avid sports fan, his favourites being Boston Bruins, Prince Albert Raiders and the Saskatchewan Rush.
Greg will be lovingly remembered by his father Earl Disiewich (BarbTkachuk); his sister Denise (Shawn) Williams; his nephews Brett Williams, Kyle Williams; his son Andrew Disiewich; his daughter Heaven Sawatzky (Jesse Delorme)& their children, Blake and Laila; his uncle Emil (Irene) Disiewich & their children Jason Disiewich (Nicholas, Harmony, Lucas), Errin (Wes)Thompson (Tesa & Tavin); his uncle Wally (Karen) Disiewich & their children, Kelly(Morgan) Disiewich (Ella &Ben), Brad(Diana) Disiewich (Sloan); his aunt Kathy Disiewich (Murray Thomas) & their children Kaylon Disiewich & Alyssia Disiewich (Kashton & Kendrick); his aunt Stella Newberry & her children Scot Newberry (Melanie Lush) (Meghan, Abbey &Lily), her daughter Nancy Newberry (Brook & Blaise); his aunt Val (Mike Hientz) & their daughter, Leah(Corey Dick)(Blake & Mackenzie), son-in law Nathan Turnbull(Alexander); his uncle Ambrose (Jesse Sullivan) (Johnathon).
Greg was predeceased by; his mother Rose Disiewich (nee Mardell), grandparents, Walter & Nellie Disiewich (nee Grypiuk), Anthony & Helen Mardell (nee Kosik), uncle Keith Newberry, cousin Dana Turnbull (nee Hientz).
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff of the Royal University Hospital for their devotion to Greg’s care.
A Celebration of Greg’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church 260- 25th Street East Prince Albert. Interment will follow at South Hill Cemetery. Donations in lieu of tributes can be made to the Prince Albert SPCA or the Cancer Society in Greg’s memory.
