Greg Brakstad

Greg was born on August 28, 1947 and passed away peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on January 17, 2021.
Greg was born in Kinistano, SK and raised in the Weldon, SK area. In Prince Albert, he met and married his wife of 51 years, Judy (nee Smith). Together they raised 2 children, Kelvin and Stacy.
Greg worked at various jobs throughout the years including underground mining and truck driving across western Canada, 14 years working as the Director of the Outpatients Detox Centre in Sandy Bay, SK, 5 years working as an Addictions councillor at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, 4 years working as the Director of the Breton Addiction Centre in North Battleford, SK and 9 years at the outpatient detox centre In La Ronge, SK where he finally retired in 2015. Prior to his passing he was retired and living in Edmonton, AB.
Greg will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife Judy; his son Kelvin; his daughter Stacy (Howell); his granddaughters Joleen (Marco) and Emily; his grandson Brandon; his great granddaughter Aniyah; his siblings Annette (Brian) Weatherhead, Yvonne (Wilmer) Holmgren, Karen (Stan) Holmgren, and Larry (Anna) Brakstad, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his baby brother Earl, his father Karl; his father-in-law Henri Smith; his mother Anna (Lauen) and his mother-in-law Ernestine Smith (Boyer)
Memorial services in both Prince Albert and La Ronge will be held at a later date as COVID 19 restrictions allow.
Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
