Grace Rayner (nee Robertshaw), beloved wife of Glen, mother of John, Terry, Gordon and Laurie-Ann, grandmother to Stephanie, Michael, Meagan, Bogdan and Kathleen, and proud great-grandmother to George, passed away with her family by her side on August 24, 2018. Grace was born in Paddockwood on November 3, 1942 to Laura and Jack Robertshaw. Grace was older sister to Neil Robertshaw and Marilyn Chamberlin. On March 2, 1963 Grace married the love of her life, Glen Rayner. Soon after came John, in 1963, Terry in 1964 followed by Gordon in 1968 and Laurie-Ann in 1972. Every summer was spent camping in tents, a tent-trailer or a trailer. Days were spent fishing, swimming and of course having campfire treats – as Grace could cook anything on the BBQ. When they bought the campground, Mom was in her glory. She enjoyed having a coffee around the campfire with all of the campers and loved long weekend potluck dinners. Grace was the most caring and loving person that any of us have ever met. She cared about every person in her life and kept track of what every one of us was up to. This included the immediate family, extended family with all the nieces, nephews, the many cousins and everyone else she met along the way. She kept in touch with and cared for all of her friends and neighbors. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary, there was always a card, phone call or email waiting for you. Grace was predeceased by: her son: Terry; her sister: Marilyn Chamberlin; and her parents: Laura (nee Henderson) and Jack Robertshaw. She is survived by: her husband: Glen; her children: John (Bev) Rayner, Gordon (Treena) Rayner, Laurie-Ann (Stefan) Sarachie; her grandchildren: Stephanie (Jeff) Young, Michael (Kaila) Rayner, Meagan Rayner, Bogdan and Katie Sarachie; her great-grandson: George Young; her brother: Neil (Lorette) Robertshaw; and her brother-in-law: Jim Chamberlin; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Grace’s family would like to thank her friends and family for their ongoing support through our time of grief. Your thoughts, wishes, prayers and kind gifts help give us strength. Thank you too to the incredible ICU doctors and nurses at Victoria Hospital & St.Paul’s Hospital for the compassionate care they provided Grace in her final days. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Calvary United Church, 114 25th St. E, Prince Albert, with Rev. Nora Vedress as Officiant. Interment in Paddockwood Cemetery will follow the lunch. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Grace may be made to the Arthritis Society, 2 – 706 Duchess St, Saskatoon, SK S7K 0R3.
