Gordon “Buckeye,” his childhood nickname which he carried through his entire life, was born in Prince Albert, SK, in 1951. His early years were spent in the Macdowall area. Since Dad worked as a sectionman for the CNR our family moved a lot as a result.
He went to school in Domremy and later to St. Louis when we moved to Hoey, and then to Begrands farm. Farm life was not in the card for him, he left home in 1966 moving to Calgary and stayed with Aunt Linda. His working career began, he started out as a labourer. He then worked carrying drywall for two different companies. He worked for Tagg Davidson, his younger brother, Dennis, moved to Calgary, and Gord got him a job with the same company, they worked together for a few years, then Gord started out on his own hanging Drywall. In the past 25 years, Gord established his own company doing Drywall and renovations among other jobs. He had a very strong work ethic, he worked long hard hours and was a perfectionist. He took pride in the quality of work he performed. In his words, “50 years of hard labour.”
Gordie liked to portray a tough guy, Clint Eastwood persona, but he was a kind, sensitive, gentle soul at heart, he loved his kids and family unconditionally. He always maintained close family contract and came back to visit often. He enjoyed socializing and visiting at all the family gatherings. He helped anyone out anyway he could.
His long-time friend, Paul (Rubby), was always close to his heart. He maintained close contact and helped over the years to take care of him.
Gordy moved to B.C. after he retired, he stayed with his daughter and her husband, he got to know and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
In the fall of 2019, he moved back home to Saskatchewan. He stayed in his camper at his brother Terry’s until freeze up. He then stayed in the same apt block his mom lived in before she passed away. Sentimental he was. He stayed for a few months then moved to Carment Court up until his passing. He became good friends with Wayne McLaughlan, the caretaker. Gord liked to be independent as much as possible.
Unfortunately his health dictated differently, chemotherapy took its toll and spent a lot of time with his two sisters going to the many appointments. Angela took him under her wing and cared for him in her home many times.
Gord, Dennis, and Terry spent a lot of time together, whether it was out in the bush cutting winter wood, or helping out Uncle Bruce, working on his truck or just hanging out reminiscing.
While he lived in Cranbrook, B.C. with his daughter and son-in-law, he took up Gold Mining and was so proud to show us the gold he got out of their claim. He also enjoyed searching for treasures with his metal detector. Gord loved the mountains, he enjoyed horseback riding and camping out when he could.
Gord enjoyed visiting, home cooked meals, and the camaraderie of a tight family connection. He confined in family about some of his deepest feelings and trusted the wisdom that his Aunt Vivian offered. He was a role model and mentor to many of his nieces and nephews. Chase spent a lot of time with him and so they shared a special bond.
The sound of his voice, the laughter, the sentimental soft hearted soul, is gone. He will live forever in our hearts and remain a part of our lives forever. We Love You Gord, Rest Easy Now, You Are At Peace.
Gord is survived by his loving family, his daughter, Noreen (Robin) Stevens; his adopted son, Joe Wildey; his grandchildren, Nadine Wildey; Jessica Blanchette and her son, Kayleb Adams; his special aunt, Vivian Meabry, whom he entrusted as a second mother; his aunt, Linda Pocha, who helped him get his start in Calgary; his long-time friend, Paul Peshi; his brothers, Terrance (Susan) Sinclair, Dennis (Tanya) Sinclair; his sisters, Caroline Sinclair, Bonnie (Henry) Carriere, Hannah, Joanne (Ken) Jonasson, Angela (Wellington) Impey; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased his father, Hubert H. Sinclair, in 2004; his mother, Gloria Pocha, in 1992; his brothers, Baby Sinclair in infancy, Thomas Harvey Sinclair, in 2011; both maternal and paternal grandparents, Thomas Sinclair, Florence Sinclair, Harvey Pocha, Harriet Bannerman.
