Gloria Zuck
1934 – 2024
With immense sadness and heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our beloved Baba, Gloria Elizabeth Zuck. She left us broken hearted on July 11th, 2024 when she passed over at the age of 90. She was a YOUNG 90 year old as anyone who knew her will attest. She always had her hair and makeup done and was always dressed to the nines.
Gloria was born on January 6, 1934 in Wakaw, SK to John and Nellie Samborsky. She grew up in Tway and spent her young years helping in the family restaurant. After graduating from high school, she went to Teachers College in Saskatoon. Gloria taught elementary school for 4 years up until she met and was smitten with Jim Zuck who had just returned from the war and was beginning his new life as a farmer. Jim & Gloria were married in 1955 and began their life together in Prince Albert. Jim built Gloria her dream home on 26th street and it was a very modern and unique home at that time. There were countless family gatherings and many happy memories for all of us in that house. Jim & Gloria raised their 2 sons, Daniel and Jon, in that house and the doors were always open to friends and relatives, and always an abundance offering of food and drink! Anyone who knew Gloria knows what a wonderful cook she was and even though she always complained about her small kitchen, the meals and baking she prepared were amazing. She taught her grandchildren how to make bread and perogies in that kitchen and she loved it. In recent years, Gloria made the decision to move to the Columbian Centre where she had the coziest apartment and made many friends. Many women in Prince Albert probably know her from working at Rietman’s Ladies Wear for 23 years.
Gloria was a strong, proud woman and had to unfortunately see the passing of her husband Jim in 2008 and son Dan in 2015. Since then, she cherished her youngest son Jon, his wife Michelle and 3 beloved grandchildren, Dillon, Nolan & Sophia. We all knew what a worrier she was but that was a testament of how much she loved her family. We will miss her so much and her death was a shock for us all as we could not imagine Baba not being here – she was a permanent loving fixture in our lives and many will miss the continual supply of Baba’s cookies.
Gloria was also predeceased by her sister Mary Bialobyzski; and also leaves to mourn her passing, her brother Ron Samborski and sister Adeline Wood, her extended family, the Riebens, and all others that knew and loved her.
Service details are pending at this time, and will be announced when available.
