Gloria Joan Cameron
January 21, 1944 – July 11, 2026
Gloria Joan Cameron passed away peacefully, leaving behind a home that always smelled of something baking, a garden with something growing and a family that knew without question they were loved.
Born Gloria Joan Burridge on January 21, 1944, Gloria was a woman of strength and genuine warmth — though anyone who knew her well understood there was a fire behind that warmth. She raised her four children with equal measures of love and expectation, and she was never shy about making her feelings known. The kitchen cupboard doors could tell a story or two.
In the early years of her marriage, Gloria was no stranger to breaking boundaries. While Murray built and raced cars, Gloria competed in the Powder Puff races — the domain of the drivers’ wives — and she didn’t just compete. She won, often. Anyone who ever saw her navigate a snow-packed farmyard with a cigarette in her mouth and carload of kids would have witnessed the fiery side of her spirit.
Gloria devoted herself to her home and her family with a pride and purpose that never wavered. She was an avid reader, a talented seamstress, and a skilled baker whose kitchen was always a place of comfort. She found joy in the smallest of details, nurturing a passion for miniatures with the same care and patience she brought to everything she touched.
But it was in the garden where Gloria truly came into her own. She studied and earned the designation of Master Gardener, entering her flowers in competitions and earning the recognition that those who knew her always knew she deserved. Her gardens were not just beautiful — they were an expression of who she was.
She and Murray were married for sixty-four years, a partnership built on shared values, hard work, and a life well lived together.
Gloria is survived by her four children Dwayne Cameron, Ian Cameron, Karon Cameron, and Michelle Groeger; 13 grandchildren; and a family that will forever measure the word “home” by the warmth she made it feel.
She tended everything she loved — and everything she loved, flourished.
