It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected death of Glenn Olsen on April 25, 2015. Glenn passed away peacefully in his home. The home he built with help of family and friends. Glenn was taken from us way to soon. Glenn was the hardest working dedicated man I know. We admire Glenn for all his accomplishments. Glenn’s biggest success was family, he loved them so much and was so very proud of them. Glenn graduated at the age of 17 from Riverside Collegiate in 1975, where he met Eileen. Mom and dad married in September 1985. They honeymooned in Hawaii and unbeknownst to them Hawaii was also their final vacation with family and friends in February 2015. Glenn and Eileen were blessed with two children, son Tyler Glenn and daughter Morgan Brittney. Out of high school Glenn stepped out into construction, working for Graham Construction on Sherman Towers, PA Police Station, Men’s Correctional Centre, the addition to the Victoria Hospital and scaffolding at Weyerhaeuser. 1978-79 Glenn owned and operated a tow truck for BM Towing, he was fortunate to fly under the wing of a great friend’s company Brian Minduk. Around 1983 Glenn along with two partners founded Midtown Transmission on 8th Street and 6th Avenue East. Glenn’s next adventure is when he chose a career with the Prince Albert Fire Dept Local 510. Glenn retired after 22 dedicated years with the dept. achieving Captains position. Glenn also owned and operated rental properties to current time. Glenn did window and door contracts for Sask Housing on seniors high rises across Saskatchewan. Glenn’s last business venture took him in an entire different direction. Glenn along with partners, Brittney Olsen, Tyler Olsen and Mike Gray was very proud to be one of the companies doing directional drilling for Sask-Tel Infinet. In Glenn’s earlier days he enjoyed skiing, stockcar racing and the ¼ mile runs at S.I.R., hockey as a boy and playing goal for Nutters. Over the past 10 years Glenn loved to travel with family and friends and making many friends along the way. Cruising the Carribean Islands, Hawaii and Europe. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Eileen; his son Tyler Glenn; his daughter Morgan Brittney; his in-laws Ruth and Bruce Barrowclough, Bill Barrowclough-Marvella Clark, Bob Barrowclough-Kathleen, Heather and Mike Smith; brother Carl Olsen & Darlene Bisson; sister Tish Olsen; sister Judy Atwell & Bob “Captain Bob”; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and his 4 legged, ride along companion “LB” who found the soft side of Glenn. Glenn was predeceased by his parents Jennie Olsen and Leonard Olsen; his grandparents Harry and Anna Monita and Olai and Lillian Olsen. Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK., with Pastor Iris Kristjansdottir officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, Sk S4P 3X1 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 12013, STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3.
