FLEMING – It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather, Glenn Patrick Fleming at St. Pauls Hospital in Saskatoon, SK on April 1, 2011 at the age of 57 years. Glenn was born on December 14, 1953 in Melfort, SK. During his childhood years, Glenn lived in Melfort and Yellow Creek and spent much of his time with aunties, uncles, and especially his Grandma Cunningham at Rhona Lake. In his teenage years, Glenn moved to Prince George, BC to be with his father, John Fleming. However, Yellow Creek was always home for Glenn so he returned and found the one who completed his heart, Iris Simon. Glenn and Iris were married on December 28, 1974 and after a brief time in Saskatoon again returned to Yellow Creek. Glenn was a natural entrepreneur, he enjoyed various business ventures throughout the years such as purchasing farm land; raising cattle, elk and bison; and successfully owning and operating grocery stores in Yellow Creek, Weyakwin, and Waskesiu. Glenn was an active athlete and especially loved playing fastball in his younger years. Glenn and Iris were blessed with two beautiful children, Lee Patrick on Nov 4, 1982 and Michelle Lynn on Oct 31, 1984. Glenn loved spending time with his children, taking his son to hockey games, taking his daughter to WWF events and monster trucks, and above all going on fishing and hunting trips with family and friends. After suffering a severe stroke in 2001, Glenn liked spending time with friends in the surrounding communities, driving his Kawasaki Mule where ever possible, researching various subjects on the internet, making trips into Prince Albert to cheer on the Raiders – his favourite hockey team, and babysitting his newest pride and joy, his precious granddaughter, Laura. We will miss Glenn tremendously – husband, father, uncle, friend – he was family to so many and we were blessed to have had him in our lives. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Iris; his son, Lee; his daughter, Michelle Fleming and granddaughter, Laura Lindsey; two brothers-in-law, Kenn Kostyk and Myles (Joy) Simon; four sisters-in-law, Karen (Barry) Oleksyn, Sally (Leonard) Wojcichowsky, Marilynn (Grant) MacTavish and Della Wojcichowsky; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Viola in 1994; his father, John in 2006; his sister, Sandra Kostyk in 2000; his mother-in-law, Maryella Simon in 1998 and one brother-in-law, Daryl Wojcichowsky in 2008. There will be Public Visitation at the Chapel of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Roque Concepcion on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, Wakaw, SK. Interment will follow at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Cemetery, Wakaw, SK. If friends so wish, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279-3rd Ave N, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8 would be graciously accepted by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Elaine Kushneryk, Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, (306) 233-4403.
