Glen Dennis Hackl (57) of Prince Albert, SK passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 with his family by his side at the Victoria Hospital. Glen was born on May 13, 1959 in Prince Albert, SK to Walter Hackl and Lucille Hackl (nee – Wolsfeld). Glen attended school at John Diefenbaker Public School and Prince Albert Tech High School. He took on the family business, Hackl’s Engine Works when his father passed away. He was able to share his love for cars and engines during his time there. Glen enjoyed holidaying in Hawaii and Vegas, attending the Indianapolis 500 Race, and driving all night from Prince Albert to Prince George, BC. He loved fishing at Besnard Lake, SK, camping all summer at Emma Lake, SK, and spending time with his family and friends on the pontoon boat. Glen built his family an acreage on Madden Place and was never one to say no to adding one more animal – whether it was a dog, cat, raccoon, hawk, or a couple of ducks – to the family. He would do anything to make sure his kids were having fun on the acerage; skating on the pond, quading, snowmobiling, or learning to shoot. Glen was a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited. After an accident in 2005 he joined the Acquired Brain Injury Services group. The members of which became his great friends. Glen is survived by his mother Lucille; his three children, Jeanine, Robby (Krista), and Jennifer (Christopher) Chyz. He is also survived by his sister Debra Okereke and her two sons Kristian (Sarah) and Kyle Okereke. Glen is survived by two grandsons, Kaden and Taylor Zakowsky. Glen was predeceased by his father Walter; his brother-in-law Anslem Okereke, and his best friend Philip Alexander. The family would like to send their greatest thanks to the staff on Level 5 at the Victoria Hospital for taking such care for Glen. We ask that in lieu of other tributes, you make a donation to the Acquired Brain Injury Services, who were all very important people to Glen and whose services brought him out of his shell after his accident. Glen will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him. A private celebration of life will be held at Gray’s Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 for family and close friends. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
