It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Glen Gavel at the age of 63. Glen passed away on April 30th, 2023, peacefully at his home in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Glen was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK where he spent the rest of his life. Growing up, Glen spent much of his time playing sports such as baseball, soccer, and basketball. After graduating high school, Glen spent the next 30 years as a letter carrier at Canada Post while he continued playing sports at the city, provincial and national level. Glen transferred a lot of this passion into coaching his daughters and giving back to the community. Glen was a very successful basketball official who had a strong technical background and refed at numerous city, regional, and provincial championships – anyone who has played basketball in the last 40 years will know of Glen. People will describe Glen a passionate, hard-working, and always willing to help individual. He had a contagious personality and always enjoyed a good laugh over a Pilsner and clam.
There will be a Celebration of Life held for Glen on Friday, May 5th, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. at the Wildlife Federation in Prince Albert, SK. A light snack and refreshments will be available.
