Gladys Goertzen went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2021. She was born in Prince Albert, SK on January 30, 1950 where she spent her school years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Saskatchewan, worked briefly in North Battleford and then accepted a contract to teach an English as a Second Language class in Wollaston Lake. It was here that she met her future husband Bruce. After being married they lived in Cumberland House and Wood Mountain before settling in Prince Albert.
Gladys was very active in her church where she taught Sunday School, served on numerous committees, led conferences in a number of North American churches and used her love of singing to lead music at church and nursing home services. Gladys had a special heart for mission work and helping those less fortunate. For many years she continued her work as an ESL teacher and befriended many immigrant families.
At home Gladys liked to cook and try new recipes and often had a large group around the table or in her backyard. Gardening was another of her passions and she spent hours creating beautiful planters and garden beds and enjoying the birds at her feeders.
Left to cherish Gladys’s memory are her children Michael (Gwen), Jon, Jennifer (Duncan), four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, her sister Marg, sister-in-law Sheila and many other family and friends who loved her dearly. We will miss you, Gladys.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider planting geraniums this spring or making a donation to a charity of your choice.
