OBITUARY – GILBERTE PAQUETTE
PAQUETTE, Gilberte (Ruel) passed away on December 14, 2010 at the age of 98 at 1405 Bishop Pascal Place in Prince Albert, SK. Prayer Service will be held in the Sisters' Chapel at 1405 Bishop Pascal Place on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Debden, SK, St. John the Baptist Church on Saturday, December 18th at 1:00 p.m. with Most Reverend Bishop Albert Thevenot and Rev. Fr. Bernabe Millan Sajonas Celebrants. Gilberte was born in 1912 at the Shell River homestead, nine miles from Debden, SK. She attended school in Debden as well as in Duck Lake with the Sisters of Presentation. She received her teacher's training at the Normal School in Saskatoon, SK. She taught in Mattes, SK and on the Big River First Nations Reserve. She married Conrad Paquette on September 30, 1936. In 1937, they moved to British Columbia then on to Abitibi in the Malartic area of Quebec. When the war broke out, they returned to Debden SK. where they raised their family of 11 children. Gilberte encouraged and founded different clubs and service groups for her beloved town.
In August, 1998, so as to be closer to some of her children, Gilberte moved to Red Deer, AB at the Parkland Apartments. In 2003, she needed more personal care and so moved to the Pines Lodge in Red Deer. In May, 2010, she returned to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where she was cared for and greatly loved. Gilberte will be lovingly remembered by her children Mariette Williamson, Andre, Lorraine Moody, Sr. Lise Paquette, Gerard (Linda), Jacques (Rachelle), Jean (Janet), Genevieve (Brian) Kristian, Florence (Doug) Lett, her daughters in law Clementine and Gail Paquette, 32 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. She has numerous siblings and other relatives. Donations in memory of Gilberte may be made to Mass intentions, The Debden Cemetery or to the Debden Heritage Manor.
