Gilbert was born on August 4, 1937 on the family homestead North of Leoville where he grew up and worked with his family. Gilbert had many jobs throughout his younger years, from working as a long shoreman on the coast of B.C. to the mine in Pine Point and Uranium City. His true passion for farming led him back to Leoville where he met his wife and got married on October 11, 1969. Together they purchased a farm near Leoville where together they worked and raised their son. Gilbert was a very community orientated man he was on many boards, councils and committees, throughout his life. His biggest passion was farming where he could watch his crops grow throughout the summer and where he could see his cows grazing in the green lush pastures. He was also passionate about horses, especially teams, he loved wagon treks, giving the grandkids and his dog a wagon ride on a nice summer day, or sleigh rides to the kids during the winter at community functions. Gilbert loved his family especially his grandkids, he always had time to tell a story of when he was a kid, he always had such enthusiasm and a big smile when telling these stories. His smile, kindness, enthusiasm and passion for the things he loved will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Due to COVID – 19 restrictions a service will be held at a later date. The family requests that donations be made in Gilberts name to the Leoville Evergreen Health Center or Ste Therese parish in Leoville.
