Gerald “Gerry” Wilfred Koshman was born in Theodore, SK on October 18, 1948.
Gerry grew up in Parkerview, SK where he helped at his parent’s store from an early age. He attended a one room school in Parkerview until high school when he moved to Yorkton Collegiate Institute for Grades 9-12. During this time, he was a Navy Cadet and spoke highly of the program. After graduation, Gerry began his working life, which included a variety of careers in sales, likely inspired by those early days in his parents’ store. He worked in banking, finance, mobile home sales, owned a gas station, a gift store and a graphic design store, then finally settled on a career in real estate in 1992.
Gerry met his wife, Arleen, in Moose Jaw, SK in 1975. They relocated to Prince Albert and were married in April of 1977. Over the past 50 years they have raised their family, worked and been active members of the community here in Prince Albert. They enjoyed travelling and attending local events. They attended many local dances, barn dances and may have even hosted some impromptu dance parties in their cabin at Round Lake.
Gerry was a member of the PA Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters, served as a member of the PA Real Estate Board, was on the board for Prince Albert Arts Council, and served on the property committee with Calvary United Church. However, the club he was most active in was the Mid-Pro Rock and Gem Club. Gerry had a deep interest in and passion for rockhounding. Through this hobby he formed many lasting friendships, went on many rockhounding adventures, and spent countless hours organizing, cutting, and polishing stones that many of us might walk right past. Gerry had an eye for detail and was able to bring out the most surprising elements in a stone. He also somehow found a way to bring rocks back from nearly every trip he took with family and friends over the years.
Gerry was a kind man, had a strong work ethic and was a supportive husband, father and friend. Gerry passed away peacefully at the Herb Bassett Care Home on August 25, 2026, after a long journey with Lewy Body Dementia. His family is so grateful for the care he received from the staff at the Herb Bassett and all the support we’ve received from family and friends as we have navigated this complex journey. Gerry was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Arleen; his children, Dennis (Molly), Kim, Carly; brother-in-law, Lee (Linda) Stuesser; numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerry was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary; brothers, Joseph, Wayne (in infancy); in-laws, Doreen and Arnold Stuesser.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Calvary United Church, 114 25 St. East, Prince Albert, SK.
