Gerald Maurice Goota
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry a beloved husband, father and grandfather. With quiet dignity he slipped away at home with his family and his “puppies” Sammy and Kieda at his side. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Anna (nee Graham); daughters Jamie and Tracy; mother Helen; brothers Ron (Vesper) and Roger; granddaughters, Jordan and Ryann; and the light of his life, his great grandson “Kruzer”. His memory will also be cherished by his dear friend Fred; his brothers-in -law Dearle, Bobby and Rickie; and numerous other family members and friends. Jerry was predeceased by his father Mike and his son “Chip”. We take comfort in knowing that Chip and Jerry are together again. He was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Bill and Flora Graham. Jerry was a fiercely dedicated and loving person. His presence and sense of humor had a significant impact on all that knew him. Jerry’s love for animals was only surpassed by the love that he had for his family. He will be missed by all that knew him.
When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give me.
I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words or sounds.
Look for me
In the people I’ve known
Or loved.
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on your eyes
And not on your mind.
You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands,
And by letting go
Of children that need to be free.
Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love,
Give me away.
