George Stanley “Stan” Hodgson  –  April 4, 1933 – February 8, 2017

We are profoundly sad to announce that our Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa, Stan Hodgson of Three HIlls, Alberta formerly of Saskatoon and MacDowall district, has passed away in Price Albert at the age of 83.  Stan was the second youngest child of 12 born to William Arthur and Florence Lee Hodgson (Cook).  At the tender age of 16 he hitchhiked to Trail, BC to find employment. While there he met and married our Mom, Adela Teresa Sinal.  Two girls were born to this union. The family moved frequently as Dad always tried to find a better life for his family.  Trail, B.C….Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta…Medicine Hat, Alberta…Port Moody, B.C….Trail, B.C….Calgary, Alberta…Brandon, Manitoba to name a few.  He retired to Saskatoon, Sask and two years ago, moved to Three Hills. 

He worked hard to receive his Grade 12 education in the early 60’s then went onto to get his Second Class Steam Engineer’s Certificate. He was a hard working, industrious man who achieved more than a poor prairie boy could ever imagine. He lived a long, fruitful life enjoying activities of his daughters, grandkids and great-grandkids at birthdays, graduations, weddings, ballgames, hockey games, golf and travel.  The last number of  years have taken a toll on him as his health declined. His sense of humor, drive and determination carried him through right to the end. These qualities have been passed to the next generation, and for this we are grateful and blessed for his guidance and example.

Dad is survived by his devoted daughters and their families…Terry (Garry) Smith…their kids and grandkids…Derek (Janet), Riley and Ethan…Colleen (Brandon) Acorn, Kaelyn, Marinn and Camryn; Gerri Tullikopf…her kids and grandkids…Brenton (Tara), Tatum, Brooklyn and Grey…Blake (Natasha) Tucker, Summer, Dex and Blakely…Brady (Kelsey) Cooper and Kinsley…and Boyd; Raymond (Gladys) Hodgson and their families; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife Audrey Hodgson.

Dad is predeceased by our Mom, Adela Hodgson, son-in-law Rob Tullikopf, grand-daughter Kelly Smith, his parents and all of his brothers and sisters except his youngest brother.

There will be no funeral service as per his wishes.  Interment will take place in Three Hills, Alberta at a later date.

We “Thank” all those who were a part of his life.  We give special heartfelt “Thanks” to the Doctors and nurses of the Victoria Hospital who so diligently cared for him over the last week. We are so grateful.
