Always an avid traveler, Gary left his earthly home on December 10, 2024 to begin his journey on a new celestial adventure.
Gary was born on June 22, 1953 in Birch Hills Saskatchewan to George and Marg Foster. After completing his schooling in Birch Hills he attended Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw where he earned a diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology. His outgoing personality and technical knowledge served him well in his careers with Industry Canada, Telus, and Glentel Inc.
After retirement in 2012, he took his travel adventures to a new level. Gary loved the island of Maui and spent the winter months snorkeling, body surfing, and watching the sunsets. He will be greatly missed by the “Sunset Watchers of l
Gary married his high school sweetie Joan Christopherson on March 3 1973. Besides his travel partner, Joan, he is survived by his three children: David Foster and Jacqueline Harkins; Logan Foster and Erin Foster; and Lindsay Halladay. Gary will also be missed by the grandkids he adored -the “Foster Five” Nathan and Seraphina Foster, and Hawke, Alexandria, and Cassidee Halladay.
Gary was the ultimate handyman. He was always “tinkering” with something, and there was nothing he couldn’t build, fix, or renovate. He often commented that although he had retired, “Now I work for my wife. She’s the CEO and I’m the CFO”.
When he wasn’t working on Joan’s latest project, he could be found outside weeding, watering, or digging in the garden. His fishpond always needed attention, and the fish were always hungry.
Family, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather for a final Aloha to Gary in late spring of 2025.
